Morrison Brothers with Janine Smith

We might schedule additional dances in the Fall.

Registration for each dance will take place after the prior dance–to give us time to respond to possible changes.

We’re offering a FREE Introductory Session at 7pm. New dancers/never done this before, c’mon down early and get the inside scoop, it’ll make your evening even FUNNER! Former/lapsed dancers, wanna shake off the dust? You’re welcome, too!

The Folklore Society of Greater Washington (FSGW) and the Friday Night Dancers  will co-sponsor a series of dances on Friday nights.  More information at  https://fsgw.org/Friday-contra-square-dance.

Tickets are $15 plus a small Eventbrite fee. Please complete a ticket request for each registrant. Each registrant must provide proof of being fully vaccinated, plus proof of receiving a booster (if eligible). Masks are mandatory for all dancers (no exceptions). The Bumper Car Pavilion is a covered outdoor space. We will keep most of the plastic curtains open for added ventilation. Ticket sales limited to 175 (capacity 350). No cancellations.

But what about Covid, you ask? Please read carefully: Our planning involves close consultation with an epidemiologist, we are watching the numbers daily, and we’re following or exceeding state and county recommendations. The dances are scheduled weeks apart to give us time to reevaluate as conditions change.

We now require full vaccination AND a booster, for those who are eligible. If you received 2 doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine more than 5 months ago, or one dose of the J&J vaccine more than 2 months ago, please obtain a booster at least a week in advance of the upcoming dance so you may attend. Unless you attended a dance since February, you must email proof of vaccination and booster to dancingplanet@erols.com. We will keep a record that you were boosted, so you can attend future dances.

CANCELLATION POLICY: We do not offer refunds, but we’ll give you credit toward one of our future dances if you notify us at least 24 hours in advance at dancingplanet@erols.com. You may not transfer your registration to anyone else. Since everyone must be pre-registered, if someone else shows up in your place, that person cannot be admitted, per Glen Echo Park requirements. If you are registering with another person please include their vaccination card and email address.

No walk-ins at the door. Registrations are not transferable.

Masks are required at all times. Masks should fit well and cover your nose and mouth at all times. We require Level 3 surgical masks or better (N95/KN95/double masking with surgical mask covered by cloth mask).

Please bring your Photo ID to show at the door.

Covid rates have risen and we want to do everything possible to keep everyone safe, while continuing to have dances.  We recommend that everyone take a rapid test (also called an “at home” or rapid antigen test) on the day of the dance.  These are readily available at most chain pharmacies, and are often available free at your local library.   If you test positive, please let us know so we can postpone your registration to our next dance.

And, OF COURSE, a quick reminder: If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, please do not attend this dance. Please wait until the next dance to dust off your dancing shoes!

Fever or chills

Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Muscle or body aches

New loss of taste or smell

Sore throat

Congestion or runny nose

Nausea or vomiting

ALSO, if you have recently been exposed to someone who is symptomatic or who tested positive for Covid, or you are waiting for Covid test results yourself, please stay home. If you test positive by PCR after attending a dance, please email us immediately at: dancingplanet@erols.com
