The Ballroom Backroom is a heated indoor space with a nice wood floor–great for dancing. The Bumper Car Pavilion is a covered outdoor space and minimally heated, but with a wood floor and better ventilation.
Masks are required at all times. Everyone must show evidence of being vaccinated and boostered.
Pre-registration strongly encouraged. Attendance is limited to 40 dancers. To register, please send an email with your name, phone number, and a copy of your vaccination card (if I don’t already have it) to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Until further notice, these dances are private, invitation-only, and limited to those who have been fully vaccinated and boostered. Everyone will need to show proof of vaccination and booster and provide their name, email address, and phone number for contact tracing. No exceptions. Masking is required at all times. The Glen Echo Folkdancers (formerly Foggy Bottom Folkdancers) started in 1983 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Foggy Bottom. The church required substantial repairs and we had to move, eventually landing at the Church of the Redeemer, where we danced until December 2019. In January 2020, we moved to Glen Echo Park. In all these years we have maintained a very welcoming atmosphere, lots of great music and dancing, occasional parties (sometimes with live music), and, most importantly, great people to share an evening with. Plan to have a wonderful time, learn some dances, listen to some wild music, and meet some new friends. No partner is necessary. No skill is needed. Dress comfortably. Smile. If you would like to be added to our email list and receive notices of upcoming events, please email Jamie.
The Glen Echo International Folk Dancers are produced by Dancing Planet Productions and co-sponsored by the Folklore Society of Greater Washington and the World Music and Dance Institute.
